What shall we do? Town & City

Walk the Walls

One of the best ways to enjoy York is to walk its walls. At over two miles long, the walls are the longest Medieval walls in England. One of the most iconic views is from the walls that end at Lendal Bridge. As you walk from Micklegate Bar past the station, York Minster come into view so have your camera at the ready.

Get off the beaten track and check out Bishopthorpe Road, Gillygate, Micklegate, Walmgate and Fossgate for independent shops and cafés.

Rowntree Park and cycle paths, National Railway Museum, York Art Gallery, Yorkshire Museum and Museum Gardens, Castle Museum, York Minster, Ghost Walks, York Dungeon, York Cold War Bunker, Treasurer’s House.
